We Fought Them on the Beaches

We fought them on the beaches
their guns did surely reach us

how we destroyed them in the air
stopped them bombing without a care

we chased their glory on the sea
there was no mind to let it flee

shells and fire, sank with all its men
watery grave, not seen again

finally, victory is mine and yours
the evil gone, has been destroyed

the enemy has lost its head
we come home to sadly count our dead.
