No-one down the town looking for a treat
all skint shoppers now rest their weary feet
shopping frenzy over, time to take a breath
places empty there is no money left.
Walking through the town what a lonely place
where are they? Not a solitary face
mince pies on the shelves down at the local store
people stare in horror, please, please, no more.
The remnants of decor still not took down
council do it now, help me rid this frown
they piled their trolleys high it did no good
what will they do with all that rotting food?
The birds, too fat, can’t fly away no more
their table looks just like a grocery store
people filled with pastry, fat as a cow
It’s time to take the pledge that new year vow.
Slimming clubs welcome in their droves
health clubs and gyms and so the cycle goes.
